Series Water Levels

The Water Level paintings were made for the manifestation and exhibition 'De IJssel in beeld' by the - former - Stedelijk Museum Zutphen, in 2009. 
The IJssel is the river that flows along the town of Zutphen. 
The starting point of Nijenhuis is to make the landscape seem as pure as possible. She removed as many road signs, fences and barns as possible.
And of course the absence of man.
