From July 20th to September 14th, my work "My Future, Pixelating?" will be on display in the group exhibition "NEVENGEUL" at the Bergkerk in Deventer – part of the IJssel Biennale 2025.
The exhibition features work by fifty artists and is curated as a cohesive whole.
In this jacquard-woven tapestry, I explore the impact of the digital world on our lives. Covered in painted passwords, I seem protected, but parts of my body disappear into digital noise, pixels slowly taking control.
Bergkerk, Bergkerkplein 1, Deventer
Tuesday through Sunday, 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
More than 100 artists from Gelderland and Overijssel will showcase their work in this special retrospective exhibition, on view from June 28th to Sunday, August 31st. My entry, "Dis/Connected"*, is a photo on dibond from the series "Tunica, mijn Firewall" (Tunic, mijn Firewall). In a digital-looking, unnatural (gaming) environment, I wear a tunic of embroidered passwords – my personal "firewall." I requested these passwords from my followers via SoMe. An image about vulnerability and self-protection in a world that is shifting.

My personal story, where I shared my first steps collaborating with ChatGPT and spoke about my artistic research into the impact of technology on the body and society. This theme is central to projects such as:
• Fast Landscape – In this series, I depict landscapes distorted by acceleration. Using labor-intensive techniques like hand embroidery and acrylic, I slow down the creative process as a counterbalance to a fast-paced world.
• Fast Work; Time Consuming Landscape – A parody on the performance-driven society. I paint the same landscape four times in increasingly less time (100%, 85%, 70%, 55%). A critical experiment on acceleration and performance pressure.
• Hand@Work – A comparison between machine and hand embroidery, exploring the value of time, labor, and craftsmanship.
• Project Password – About digital identity, vulnerability, and privacy, exhibited in 2024 at @DatBolwerck.
A valuable evening with a responsive audience. Thanks to everyone who joined!
Fifteen artists from the network group "Kunst borrelt" (Art Bubbling) in Zutphen will be exhibiting a wide variety of high-quality work. Given the sales exhibition, the art on display will also be affordable, with prices ranging from €100.00 to €400.00. I will be showing four works from the new series "Watercourses," based on the theme: Secondary Channel. A 2025 response to my 2009 series "Water Mirrors." I will also be exhibiting two works from the series "Monsters," a textile collage of samples created over a period of 14 years.
