Fast Landscape Golden gate - 2026, acrylic and thread on untreated linen, hand embroidered, hand embroidered, size 70 x 110 cm.

In my series *Snellandschap* (Fast Landscape), I explore the dialogue between speed and deceleration, revealing the continuous transition in our society. My paintings, created with acrylic paint and hand-embroidered elements, symbolize a conscious choice for a time-consuming technique—a silent rebellion against the ongoing changes brought about by technology.

In *Golden Gate*, I depict my ambivalent relationship with the online world: the balance between vulnerability and control. A naked woman, covered in passwords, is partially ‘eaten away’ and undergoes a transition from a physical body to… a cyborg. She approaches a monumental viaduct, a symbolic boundary between the physical and the high-tech world. The viaduct evokes a paradox: attractive, yet also ominous. The ‘eyes’ in the structure observe her like gatekeepers of the digital world.

The atmosphere is festive, with brightly colored lights, blue and gold tones, but also threatening.
As a viewer, too, it feels as if you are traveling from a vehicle into a new reality!
